It looks like there’s a silver lining amid the coronavirus news: Costco’s free samples are making a comeback.
Loyal customers were more than disappointed when Costco stopped handing out samples as a prevention measure in March. But after three long months, the famous freebies are returning to stores.
Costco will still be taking precautions. The wholesale retailer will begin serving samples mid-June, on a “slow rollout basis,” according to Costco’s Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti.
Representatives have not yet announced details about safety measures, but the process will be more orderly to encourage social distancing and the wearing of face masks.
“It’s—needless to say—not going to be where you go and just pick up an open sample with your fingers,” Galanti said.
Costco recently returned to regular store hours and announced that customers are required to wear masks while shopping. In addition to bringing back free samples, Costco also reintroduced more menu items.
